Despite being in its salad days, IIT Roorkee has steadily risen in stature among the IITs. In the course of the last decade, IIT Roorkee has shed the tag of being the youngest IIT and steadily progressed towards the cause of becoming the best of the lot. Recent Dataquest and Outlook surveys only went on to corroborate the same. The Dataquest magazine, after an elaborate survey, placed IIT Roorkee in third place, behind its counterparts in Delhi and Kharagpur. In terms of infrastructure, though, Roorkee was rated the best in the country, head and shoulders above the competition- IITs and non-IITs alike. The institute finished second only to Manipal Institute of Technology in terms of HR perception, ahead of all seven other IITs.

Indeed, it is only a matter of time before Roorkee takes those two final steps to greatness.
